Holidays in Albania: Saranda

Saranda

Saranda is the most touristic city of Albania: It is located in the South almost on the border with Greece and right in front of the island of Corfu (Greece) which can be reached by hydrofoil during the day.

Of all Albanian cities, Saranda is the one that first chose to focus on tourism as its main resource.

The proximity to the island of Corfu and the direct connections with ferries and hydrofoils to one of the most famous tourist destinations of the Mediterranean convinced the citizens of Saranda to invest all their resources in tourist facilities.

The result was an incredibly rapid urban development that literally transformed the city in a very few years.

Saranda visitors are divided into two factions:

there are those who do not approve the construction of nine-storey buildings so close to the coast and those who compare it to cities such as Montecarlo or Barcelona.

We have included Saranda in many of ours travel proposals. The city is an indispensable destination for tourists looking for the sea and relaxation.

A holiday in Saranda: Sea and Movida.

Saranda

Almost all Saranda hotels and apartments are located a few meters from the beach.

The city developed along the coast and the streets run parallel to the beach.

Thus there are the buildings closest to the shore and gradually those further away.
The prices of hotels and apartments decrease as we move away from the beach.

Even the most distant, however, is a few minutes walk from the sea and therefore you can find economic but very valid solutions for a happy holiday.

Beaches

The most beautiful beaches, however, are not those found in the city!

Saranda

The most beautiful sea is the one located further south in the direction of Ksamil. Here you can find beautiful isolated beaches surrounded by unspoiled nature. To find them, however, you must know the area well. The most famous and recommended are the "Monastery Beach" Plazhi i Manastirit, and the "Cave of the Pigeons Shpella e Pellumbave but in the area there are many others just as beautiful.

Ksamil is located almost on the border with Greece and is famous for its beaches and islets rich in lush greenery.

La Movida

Saranda is an entire tourist town. In the evening the whole city promenade is populated with tourists. There are restaurants, bars and street food. There are attractions and entertainment for everyone. There are carousels for children, Disco Bars and Music Clubs.

At midnight in the city, however, the music goes off to give tourists the opportunity to rest. Don't be afraid though! As soon as out of town there are other places where you can have fun until late at night. There is also the Factory Night Club open all night. It is an indoor disco (to prevent noise from disturbing those who want to rest) but equipped with air conditioning!

How to travel to Saranda

Getting to Saranda is not very easy:

31/5000 arriving in Albania in Tirana (international airport) or in Durres (Tourist Port) it is necessary to undertake a long journey by car or bus. it takes over 5 hours.

Nei in traveling trips that we organize the stops along the way are designed to make the travel day an integral part of the holiday: fun and restful.

Alternatively, Saranda can be reached via Greece. You arrive at the airport in Corfu and then take the ferry or hydrofoil to get to your destination. In this case, however, it is mandatory to plan an overnight stay in Corfu because there are no coincidences.

Another possibility instead, always passing through Greece, can be the ferry to Higomenitsa: once landed in Greece it is possible to reach Saranda by land by car or bus in about an hour.
